Asia overcomes Latin America at international beauty contests

More and more Misses from Asia are crowned in major competitions, while Latin America is gradually reducing its level of interest.

In previous years, Asian countries had rarely the opportunity to enter the Top 15 of the Miss Universe but more day and more contestants shine. Looking back at the contests in the Big 6 (the six largest pageants in the world) this year, four beauties in Asia were crowned. Miss Korea won the Miss Supranational crown. Miss India World is Miss World 2017. Miss Indonesia crowned Miss International. Karen Ibasco of the Philippines is Miss Earth. The only Latin American winner this year is Peru's María José Lora at Miss Grand International.

With the success of the succession of Asian beauty, the level of interest of the audience in this area to the contest is increasing. More than 50% of the followers of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) are from Southeast Asia, with the Philippines accounting for the majority. Meanwhile, the great powers in Latin America like Venezuela, Mexico ... no longer take the high position. For a while, the Miss Universe pageant, which was looking for a hot, dynamic beauty, was supposed to be born for this area. Miss Universe Organization (MUO) even wanted to make a reality TV series titled Miss Latina Universe, in which the winner will be represented for Latin America at the Miss Universe 2014. which was contested by contestants around the world. Telemundo later canceled the film and did not disclose the reason. When the Univision Channel (Latin America) signed a multi-year contract with the MUO in January 2015, the position of the region seemed to become more certain in the Miss Universe. However, this intention was protested follower around the world. Telemundo channel later canceled the film and did not disclose the reason. All changed when Donald Trump sold the Miss Universe Organization to WME / IMG in September 2015 a company of marketing and training talent to run for the White House. In his campaign speech, Trump offended the Mexicans and has since provoked the Latin American community. Miss America 2015 failed when both NBC and Univision were not broadcasting the contest, viewership declined rapidly. For many, this is a sign of the demise of the Miss Universe Organization. Many believe MUO can never recover without the support of Latin America. In the face of such a situation, MUOs are forced to look for other areas and plan alternatives. They began to see that Southeast Asia had a significant number of supporters.

In addition, due to the emergence of social networking, the percentage of TV viewers is no longer the sole criterion for evaluating the success of a contest. In fact, the social network also provides information related to the contest throughout the year. Also, it's more cost-effective and accessible to fans. The number of followers of MUO or Miss World social networks is mostly from Asia.

Political and economic factors also impacted this area, making beauty contests no longer a big priority. Venezuela, which has long been a Miss training center for many years, struggled to cope with the economic crisis last year.

Previously, as the Latin American region favored the beauty contest, the organizers' favor for the region was huge. Now, that scenario is taking place with Asia.

The Great Peagant Community identified the Top 5 contestants are worth the crown. Choosing the winner will be based on a number of factors, including the level of interest of the audience in the area. This "bias" is considered the economic problem of the organizers.
