'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' helped Disney continue to dominate the box office

The blockbuster "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" continues to inflate and grossed $ 600 million worldwide, helping Walt Disney hit $ 6 billion in box office receipts in 2017.

According to Screen Rant, The Last Jedi's sales topped $ 600 million worldwide on December 21, including $ 296.6 million in North America and $ 314 million in other countries. As a result, total ticket sales of Disney films in 2017 surpassed $ 6 billion on Dec. 22.

Disney is the only studio in the history of cinema twice reaching the record $ 6 billion per year. In addition to The Last Jedi in 2017, Disney also has a number of other hits such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Beauty and the Beast, Thor: Ragnarok ... In which, Beauty and the Beast is still the "champion" of box office with $ 1.263 billion.

This weekend, predictions of The Last Jedi will continue to win, earning $ 110 million in North America. It is likely that Star Wars VIII will be in shortlist of the "$ 1 billion club" ahead of the 2018 New Year.

Prior to January 1, 2018, Disney is still able to conquer milestone $ 7 billion. "Rat House" is the only studio in Hollywood to achieve at least $ 5 billion in revenue for the past three consecutive years. Four out of the top five film the most ticket sales in 2017 in North America belonged to Disney.

After acquiring 20th Century Fox for $ 52.4 billion, Disney's dominance in Hollywood will become more stable. As such, Disney will own a number of movie brands such as X-Men, Avatar, Fantastic Four, Planet of the Apes, Alien, Predator, Kingsman, Ice Age ....

Disney's Marvel (MCU) - which has become a model of envious success in Hollywood - will be expanded with new superheroes.

Overall, the Hollywood movie market is still growing well in 2017 although North American gross revenue is down about 2% over the same period last year.

The reason is because some of the blockbuster is expected as Transformers: The Last Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and The Mummy is disappointing because of the boring content.
